Knauf ProtectFill – Stone Wool Blown-In Insulation for Fire Protection
Knauf ProtectFill is a blown-in insulation material made of loose stone wool for fire protection upgrading in service shafts. The material is blown directly into the shafts via hoses and nozzles by specialized contractors, quickly, without visible traces and reliably. In addition to fire protection, ProtectFill also provides thermal and sound insulation.
Properties and Benefits

- Melting point of the fibres: ≥ 1000 °C

Application Area
For retrofitted thermal and acoustic insulation as well as fire protection upgrading in service shafts. Not load-bearing.
Installation
- Installed as blown-in insulation by qualified contractors using suitable machine technology (blowing machine)
- Applied directly into the service shaft through hoses and nozzles
- Installation in accordance with the applicable processing guidelines and recognized rules of technology

Material Consumption (Guideline Values)
Material consumption depends on the cavity depth. Guideline values per 100 m² at a bulk density of 70 kg/m³ are, for example:
- 100 mm: approx. 56 packs / 100 m²
- 200 mm: approx. 112 packs / 100 m²
- 300 mm: approx. 168 packs / 100 m²
- 400 mm: approx. 224 packs / 100 m²
