Polymer Sealing Tape – HDPE Aluminium Composite Film with Elastomer Bitumen Coating, Caravan Tape
The Polymer Sealing Tape is a self-adhesive repair tape for waterproof bonding and sealing for indoor and outdoor use. It adheres reliably to metals, plastics, wood, glass as well as many mineral substrates and is ideal for sealing joints, cracks and holes. As a caravan tape, it is especially practical for repairs on vehicles and bodywork.
Properties & benefits
- Waterproof at water pressure > 4 bar / 24 h
- Permanently UV-stable, weather- and ageing-resistant
- Self-adhesive – quick repair without additional fastening
- Adheres to metal, plastic, glass, wood and stone/mineral substrates
- Thickness: 1.1 mm | Colour: White
Typical applications
- Vehicles / caravan: sealing joints, cracks and holes
- Roof coverings & glass roofs
- Wall and plinth connections, wall cladding
- Sheet metal, gutters, support brackets
- Fibre cement boards and much more
Substrate & preparation
- Substrates must be dry, clean, free from dust and grease, abrasion-resistant and load-bearing.
- Application temperature: minimum 10 °C surface temperature up to 40 °C on the surface to be bonded.
- Optimum bonding temperature: 15–25 °C. For stronger adhesion, warm the tape and substrate with a hair dryer.
Notes on difficult substrates
- Porous mineral substrates: prime beforehand with Universal Primer LD, e.g. concrete slabs, fibre cement, plaster, aerated concrete, brick.
- Old/weathered substrates & bitumen membranes: after thorough cleaning, apply Bitumen Primer, e.g. metal, wood, tiled roof, bitumen membranes.
Application steps
- Cut the tape to the required length.
- Remove the release paper and position the tape.
- Apply the tape with firm pressure and press down strongly. Avoid air bubbles and use a pressure roller if necessary.
